Every state uses slightly different wording, but most claim statuses fall into a handful of common categories. Most initial claims are processed within two to three weeks — longer if there's an issue with your claim or the state is seeing high claim volume.

What does "Filed" or "Received" mean?
Your claim has been submitted and is in the state's system, but no decision has been made yet.

What does "Pending" mean?
The state is waiting on something before it can process your claim — often your former employer's response, a required document, or an eligibility review. Log in to your account for specifics.

What does "Processing" mean?
Your claim is actively being reviewed by an examiner. Most initial claims are processed within two to three weeks, though issues or high claim volume can extend that.

You've been approved and meet the wage requirements to receive benefits. You'll still typically need to certify every week or two to keep getting paid.
