Virginia pushes claimants hard toward ID.me verification — the agency literally brands it 'Start Green, Stay Green' because the sign-in button turns green once you're using ID.me, and you're expected to use that same login every time you come back to check on your claim. If you get approved and choose card payment, note that your debit card won't say 'Virginia' or 'VEC' anywhere on it — it arrives as an unbranded 'Way2Go' card, so don't toss the envelope thinking it's junk mail.

Virginia's Employment Commission lets claimants check detailed claim and payment status through the Customer Self Service portal, signed into via ID.me identity verification, or by calling the Voice Response System at (800) 897-5630. VEC states claimants are generally paid within 21 days of filing, though some claims need additional review. A stalled claim usually means an unresolved issue tied to separation reason or weekly eligibility, reviewed by a deputy who mails a Notice of Deputy's Determination. Claims go inactive after 21 days without a weekly filing.
