How to File for Unemployment in Rhode Island

Rhode Island's DLT call center keeps unusually limited hours — it's closed entirely on Wednesdays — so if your claim runs into trouble mid-week, UI Online is really your only option until Thursday.     Have your recent employment details and, if choosing direct deposit, your bank name, routing number, and account number ready.

    Apply at beta.uionline.dlt.ri.gov, or call (401) 415-6772 during business hours (closed Wednesdays) if you'd rather file by phone.

    Pick direct deposit or Rhode Island's Electronic Payment Card — direct deposit is recommended to avoid delays.

    You won't be paid for the first week you're eligible, but you still have to request payment for it to get credit.
