How to File for Unemployment in Colorado

Colorado's Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) runs claims through the MyUI+ portal, and the state sets a specific earnings bar for eligibility: you generally need at least $2,500 in W-2 wages with taxes withheld over the last 18 months. Every claimant, no matter which benefit program they're on, has to request payment weekly — there's no biweekly option here.

    Gather income and work history

    Before filing, pull together pay stubs and details on every job you've held in the last 18 months, including employer name, address, dates worked, and rate of pay.

    File your claim in MyUI+

    Start your claim at the MyUI+ login page; if you already have a Colorado UI account from 2015 or later, you're a returning claimant and just need to complete registration with your email address.

    Verify your identity

    All claimants verify identity through ID.me; if you file by phone instead, you'll need to verify in person at a USPS location and won't be able to manage your claim through MyUI+ afterward.

    Watch your Claim Status Tracker

    MyUI+ includes a status tracker that flags any outstanding actions or documentation CDLE needs from you to keep your claim moving.

    Request payment every week

    Log in to MyUI+ starting the Sunday after your benefit week ends and request payment; you have 7 days to do so or your claim closes and must be reopened.
